.,.,Good news to all Filipinos. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) have announced that a rare total lunar eclipse will be visible in the Philippines tomorrow.
.,.,The lunar eclipse will last for a few hours in the Philippines night sky giving the Filipinos a chance to see it. However, Philippines will only be able to see the end part of the breath taking, one-of-a-kind event. But that would be okay. Only in Scandinavia can you see the full cycle of the event. Given a chance to see the event even only at its end stage is more than enough.
.,.,PAGASA said “the moon will rise at 5:36 p.m. on 21 December and will set at 6:57 A.M. on 22 December.” The eclipse will begin starting 1:29 pm up to 7:04 pm. With these time range, it is evident that Filipinos will only start to see the eclipse by 5:36 pm to 7:04 pm, giving them a chance to witness it for more than one and a half hour.
.,.,Even so, it is already a great honor. This eclipse is a rare event. In fact this has been the only total lunar eclipse to happen in 34 months. The last one was between February 20 and February 21, 2008 which wasn’t really noticed in the Philippines night sky.
.,.,However, there will be more of this next year. It is said that by 2011, 2 lunar eclipses will happen. “In 2011, there will be two total lunar eclipses. The first, on June 15, will be visible primarily from the Eastern Hemisphere and will have an unusually long duration of totality lasting one hour and 40 minutes,” Space.com said. The second will be on December 10, 2011.
.,.,.,.,So, stay out for it.,.,.,.,
